  General Notes:

After leaving Bedford School at 16, Ivan was apprenticed to the Port Line and sailed for Australia and New Zealand. He was with MV Port Saint John when he was accidentally killed on 29 October 1943 while cargo was being loaded in Sydney Harbour. He is buried (with a gravestone) in Rookwood Cemetery, Sydney (section 12, grave 403) which is in the Strathfield suburb of the city
